What is Google Live Transcribe?
It transcribes speech in real time to your Android screen,
makes it easier for people with hearing impairments to engage in a conversation
it creates and saves a transcript of each conversation for up to three days.
It identifies sounds and lets you know what's happening around you (such as birds chirping or the wind whistling).
It has helpful accessibility features, like vibrating when your name is spoken.
You can also add custom words and a secondary language for bilingual users.

Live Transcribe was created in partnership with Gallaudet University, a premier university for people with deafness.
Built in when purchased on some phones; others have to download it.

How to activate Live Transcribe on a Samsung device
Modern Samsung devices have Live Transcribe built-in. Here's how to turn on Live Transcribe on a Samsung device:
If you don't see Live Transcribe, install the app from the Play Store

Click on Settings
Click on Accessibility
Click on Hearing enhancements
Click on Live Transcribe

When you see this screen, you can start talking. E.g, “Testing, one, two, three.”
If Live Transcribe is not built-in to your phone.

How to Do a Soundcheck
Click on SoundCheck at bottom of screen
Click on Start
Timer will start at 15 seconds and countdown to 0.
Hold phone about a foot above table
Don’t talk during sound check
You can submit sound check to national database if you want, but not required.

What cell phones have a decibel meter built-in?
SoundPrint is available via the iPhone and an Android version. Note that some select Android devices have an objective decibel meter (currently, the main flagship Samsung models) while other Android models (i.e. Pixel, LG, Motorola, Nokia), at least for now, do not.
Samsung Phones that have an objective decibel meter are: S8, S8+, S9, S9+, S10, S10+, S10 Lite, S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, S23, S23+, S23 Ultra. This only applies to smartphones, not the "Samsung Note Tablets."
For the Android models that do not have an objective decibel meter (the non-Samsung flagship models), there is a subjective input SoundCheck where the user subjectively determines whether a venue is Quiet, Moderate, Loud or Very Loud.
